I am a Scottish painter, printer and icon maker.
My practice is inspired by absurdism, the unconscious and sacred myths. This comes from my Christian faith, my fascination with the surreal, the divine and the transformation of trauma into beauty – and also from my personal experience of injury, disability and recovery.
My work inhabits the boundaries between the conscious and the unconscious, between myth and everyday reality. It explores themes of trauma, recovery and spiritual experience. It has been described as quasi-naïve, symbolic, figurative, outsider art and surreal.
My recent practice has been profoundly affected by the genocide in Gaza. In these paintings I depict the contemporary and historical forces that enable the violence inflicted on innocent Palestinians.
I'm based in Leith, Edinburgh, and currently undertaking a Graduate Residency at Leith School of Art. I exhibited in the 2024 New Contemporaries Exhibition at the RSA in Edinburgh. I completed my undergraduate degree in Painting & Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art in 2022.
